Newmarket Racecourse: The Story so Far

Newmarket has a long, rich history which dates back over 350 years to the time of King James I. The first recorded race was staged in 1622 and is said to have been a £100 contest that involved horses owned by Lord Salisbury and Marquess of Buckingham.
